In Love With Paris
By Mike Eigen
Paris is the place in Europe that you will find so many things to do that the number of days that you have been on hand will certainly seem few. Paris is one city wherein you will find a nice blend of the best of art, architecture and culture along with the best of cuisine and fashion. There are several places that you must visit whilst in Paris and five of the best ones are: The Eiffel tower which is the first thing that comes to one’s mind when one thinks of Paris. The Eiffel tower was designed to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the French Revolution. When you take yourself right on top of the Eiffel Tower is giving you the most enchanting and panoramic view of the city beneath. It is extremely romantic and one can have dinner there too. The next place that you must visit is the Louvre museum. This is the place where you will find a vast collection of at least 35,000 or more art works. You will be able to feast your eyes on the best works of a renowned artist that might not be found anywhere else in the world. You will be able to look at the works of Da Vinci, Frangonard, Goya, and Rembrandt to name a few. The Louver is situated in a fortress that was build way back in the 12th century. Next on your list should be the Notre Dame. It is near the river Seine. The Notre Dame is also known as the Paris Cathedral. This is the best example of Gothic architecture that you will get to see. It has three huge doors right in the front that leads to the interiors of the church. Then there is the Arc de Triomphe. In order to reach it, you have to pass by the Champs-elysees which is the prime avenue in Paris. The Arc de Triomphe was built by Napoleon Bonaparte in order to commemorate the victory of the French in the war of Austerlizt in 1805. It is a fantastic piece of example of Roman architecture. It is a huge structure and reaches a height of up to 49 meters. If you were to look at the insides you will find inscribed the names of the 558 French generals. Lastly, you must take yourself to the neighborhood of Montmartre. This is one place that is a haven for artists, writers and painters, in fact, anyone with a creative bent of mind. It is full of cobbled streets and narrow alleys that are full of people at whatever time of the day that you visit it. It is one place that is buzzing with life what with several restaurants, shops, and terrace cafes. It houses the famous Sacre Coeur church which will certainly impress you with its amazingly different architecture. Thus, Paris has a lot of things to offer a tourist in order to make their holiday a memorable one. |
