London has a Charm

Among all European capitals, London has a charm all its own. Throughout the year, people flock to London for its heritage attractions and to see some of the great historical sites of this once Imperial capital. London has countless historical and modern attractions. The architecture of the city is magnificent. London is a leading city in the world of arts. The Globe Theatre is intricately connected with the life of the great playwright Shakespeare. The theatre is still there and you can enjoy Shakespeare the way it was originally performed. The Big Ben Tower, the changing of guard at Buckingham Palace and cruises in River Thames are an essential part of a visitor's delight. It’s a great place to visit for families and for lone travelers too. There are parks, museums, zoos, theme parks, boat rides, etc. The night life in London is great and you just can’t afford to miss the Broadway shows. With so many things to see in London, you can start your tour by taking a breathtaking trip on the London eye. It is the world’s highest observation wheel and offers spectacular views to passengers in just 30 minutes. The London eye is a unique feature of London’s skyline. The British museum exhibits the works of man from prehistoric to modern times. It boasts of the collections drawn from all over the world. Some of the famous objects include sculptures from the Parthenon, the Rosetta stone and the Portland Vase. Entry to the British Museum is free. Britain's national museum of modern art, the Tate Modern is another favorite with tourists visiting London. The gallery displays works of Matisse, Bacon, Rothko, Andy Warhol and Picasso. The gallery also exhibits the best of cotemporary British art. Other famous institutions in London include the Victoria & Albert museum with its amazing collection of ceramics, glass, jewellery and sculpture from all over the world and the wonderful collections of paintings at the National Gallery which includes painting from Leonardo da Vinci, Vincent Van Gogh and Rembrandt. London is also famous for its double-dekker bus tours. They are great for a tour of London and what is more you can get off and then board the bus again. The prices are reasonable too- adults pay only £20 while children pay £16 for a ticket valid for 48 hours. The Natural History Museum is another must visit for the tourist. This beautiful gothic building boasts a collection of the biggest, tallest and rarest animals in the world. Besides the world’s largest collections of dinosaur skeletons, the museum has a life sized model of the blue whale and a 40 million year old spider. The museum is must see for kids and provides great fun for adults. No London trip would be complete without a visit to Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum. The museum is world famous for its lifelike wax figures. The museum is one of the most popular tourist attractions in London and is usually very crowded. You’ll come face to face with some famous historical and modern politicians as well as sports stars and movie celebrities. |
