Visit Brussel, Belgium!
By Mike Eigen
Brussels, Belgium is the capital of Belgium and is a wonderful and fascinating city that is home to NATO. The last few decades of Brussels history have been packed full of wonderful changes for this city as it has become more and more of an international business center than its original residents ever would have imagined. There are many wonderful and beautiful medieval structures that reside right next to the new and state of the art buildings of this day and age, it will blow your mind. Just wondering through the streets of Brussels you will get the real feeling of the old meeting, the new and that is an experience worth having in one of the few cities in the world where you can gain such an experience. If you are visiting Brussels for a festival or ceremony then you will likely find yourself in the wonderful Grand Palace! On Sundays this area becomes a huge out door market and the area will be filled with many people and different booths to buy everything from flowers to jewelry. The upper part of the market is better known as the antique market and is surrounded by a large wrought iron fence that is topped off with small bronze statues that represent the guilds that surround the city. As I am sure that you realize, Brussels has a deep rooted history in the medieval times, and you will find wonderful museums throughout the city such as the Royal Museum of Fine Arts. There are many different shopping experiences that you can have in Brussels like Galleries St. Hubert, which is the first mall in existence! It's a good sized glass covered building that contains many different shops, boutiques, cafes and much more! You can't visit Belgium without checking out the wonderful restaurants where you will find a unique combination of French and German foods. Don’t forget to have a great Belgian beer with your meal and of course some delicious Belgian chocolates for desert. Many of us will want to visit Brussels because of its history or the fact that it is the home of NATO, but there is one feature that you might not know about. It is home to one of the best theme parks! Burpark is filled with wonderful rides, a great view of the Atomium and contains a section called mini-Europe. You will find so much to do in Brussels with its new state of the art buildings and international business to the medieval history that still stands within the town to the intriguing entertainment options, and well you will have so much to do that you will never want to leave. |

What a fine, well written intel. If I could afford it, I would leave right now for a vacation. Thanks for sharing with us. Frederick
